When to book your Kansas City maternity session
Kansas City, we're coming home!
I’m here to take the stress out of photos and turn your fleeting moments into forever memories.
From styling to artwork, I take care of every detail—so you can focus on what matters most: loving on your babies while I preserve your family’s legacy with timeless, heartfelt imagery.
Bringing home your newborn is one of the most tender seasons of your life. When it comes time to photograph those early days, your home becomes more than just a backdrop— it’s where your family’s love lives.
A lifestyle newborn session isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating space for connection, rest, and presence. Below is a simple guide to help you prepare in a way that feels calm, doable, and true to you.

Preparing Your Home
Your home already tells your family’s story—this is just about letting it shine. Feel free to play music you love during your session. Small details like this help everyone relax and make the experience feel more like real life.
Newborns love warmth. About an hour before your session, raise your thermostat to around 75–80 degrees or turn off the AC to keep your baby cozy.
I photograph exclusively with natural light, so please:
I’ll guide us toward the best light once I arrive.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are meant to feel unforced and deeply personal. This is your permission to slow down and romanticize your daily life by doing the things that feel most like your family.
That might look like snuggling on the couch, rocking your baby in the nursery, nursing in soft window light— or it might mean something uniquely yours, like a dad playing the guitar, reading a book together, or sharing a quiet ritual that already anchors your days.
You don’t need to perform or create “perfect” moments. The most meaningful images come from real, everyday interactions you’ll want to remember forever— feeding, soothing, holding tiny hands, sharing what matters most to you. I’ll gently guide you, but the heart of the session is simply being present together.
4. Tidy the Areas with the Best Light
You don’t need to deep clean your entire home. Focus on:
A quick declutter of surfaces near windows goes a long way, but know I will gladly move things as we move throughout your home.
You do not need a spotless home. I’ll guide us toward the best light and angles— what matters most is you and your baby, not perfection.

If you’re borrowing from the studio wardrobe, everything will arrive pressed and ready.
Helpful reminders:
Comfort + simplicity photograph beautifully.
Try to start with:
That said, we will always follow your baby’s lead. Feeding, changing, and soothing are part of the process— and never a disruption.
Big feelings are normal when welcoming a new baby. Make sure older siblings are fed and rested, and then let the rest unfold naturally. They will have plenty of opportunities for breaks throughout our time together.
I’ll guide sibling interactions gently and keep things relaxed and playful.
Newborns cry. Toddlers test limits. That’s not a problem— it’s real life.
Remember, I’m a mom too. I’m also a former nanny and teacher, so nothing rattles me! The calmer you stay, the calmer your children will feel. We’ll take our time and capture the moments that matter most.
I offer flexible start times for newborn sessions, scheduled around your baby’s natural rhythms and any sibling needs—whether that’s a feeding window, nap, or slow morning together.
On average, lifestyle newborn sessions last about 1.5 hours. When I arrive, we’ll take a few minutes to settle in and look for the best natural light in your home. From there, the session unfolds slowly and gently— allowing time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and breaks as needed. Nothing is rushed, and there’s no expectation for your baby to “perform.”
My role is to guide you calmly and thoughtfully, creating space for natural connection so you can simply be present with your baby and family.

Your newborn session should feel calm, supported, and meaningful. My role is to take care of the details so you can focus on loving your family in this fleeting season.
If you’re expecting and looking for a relaxed, in-home Kansas City lifestyle newborn photographer, I’d love to help you create images that feel timeless and true to your story.
You don’t need to do more. You just need to show up— and I’ll take it from there.
